PRINTING TRADES

Who is union,and who checked.

The printing face of the Union Made Trades register. These are the shops we place printing work with, and exactly what we checked — the shop, the local, what it holds, who verified it, and the date. We vet them ourselves because we send them the work. It issues no label of its own and confers no standing on anyone.

What works today

The registerShop, local, what they hold, who verified, when. Free to be listed and free to readNot yet
The vetting standardPublished and versioned — what a verification actually checked, so the entry is falsifiableNot yet
Verification workflowA tradesman reviews the shop. The record carries their name and the date, not an algorithm's wordNot yet
Re-verification clockEvery entry ages. An unrefreshed record degrades to 'stale' in public rather than sitting there looking trueNot yet
Buyer sourcingSend one spec to the shops that match. Routes to the placement rail at printshop.linkNot yet
Local / council viewA local's own vetted supplier list, under the local's name, drawn from the same registerNot yet

The register

Sample rows, to show the shape. Every entry carries a basis — what actually authorises the claim — and a status saying whether the paper is on file or the shop simply told us. Those are two different facts and this register never merges them.

What “vetted” means here

A basis, or it does not go upSignatory contract, council standing, a local’s bug, or personal membership — four different things a single badge normally hides. The register names which oneRule
Verified is a person and a dateA working tradesman reviewed it. Their name and the date are on the record. A verification with nobody behind it is a graphicRule
Attested is a real answerThe shop told us and the paper is not filed. That entry stays up, labelled honestly. The alternative is deleting true things or promoting unproven onesRule
Entries ageA contract lapses, standing gets pulled. An unrefreshed entry degrades in public on its own — nobody has to remember to take it downRule
The standard is publishedVersioned, in the open, with a changelog. You can argue with it. A standard nobody can inspect is an opinion with a logoRule
Verification is never for saleListing and verification are free and always will be. A paid member and a free listing get the same checks, the same tier and the same wording — money buys visibility, never statusRule

What this is not

It issues no bugUnion labels belong to the bodies that own them and are licensed to shops that earn them. This register records who holds which, on what basis. It grants nothing and can take nothing awayNot us
It takes no sideWhere organizations disagree, the register records what each body states, attributed. A neutral record is more use to a buyer than either side’s own listNot us
It speaks for no oneNo affiliation with or endorsement by any International, council or local is claimed. Where a shop’s standing is stated, it is stated as that shop’s, and no furtherNot us
